Ahh, the issue of love and relationships. This is a very tricky
and touchy subject. In the old days, a man courted a woman, asked for her Fathers
approval and if given, married her. The issues of sex and multiple partners
were really not issues. Not in most cases anyway. Modern times are much different
though. There is great pressure to have sex and often to have sex with multiple
partners. That is truly a shame. I don’t care what people say, but there
is a difference between sex and making love. Making love is or at least should
be, much more intense because of the emotional bond between the people. Many
cannot separate the difference between love and sex. People think that having
sex can replace love and it cannot. Love is trusting the person that you are
with, love is being honest with the person, and love is accepting your differences
and making it work anyway. It doesn’t matter if you are straight, gay,
or anything in between, love is love. Love is feeling happiness just being around
your partner. Love is compassion, and the ability to rely each other for support
when times are tough. Love is not needing to make love, to still feel the excitement
of being with the person. Love is lying on the couch and cuddling with the person
you love. Sex is great, but feeling loved by the person that you are with regardless
of what activity you are doing can be the best feeling in the world. However,
without trust, honesty, communication, and loyalty, love cannot and will not
thrive. Love is the ability to make you and your partner feel like better people.
Love is being supportive through the tough times. Love is felt in the heart
and only the heart. If the heart feels love then the brain and everything else
will naturally fall into place. Love can also be very painful. Feeling love
towards someone who does not love you back, or worse yet, pretend that they
love you but don’t, can be one of the most painful experiences in life.
In any relationship, there will be disagreements, and fighting, but it is the
ability to settle these battles, tell the person that you love them and move
on that makes the difference. Love is not having to say “I love you”,
but saying it anyway. That is love.
