Discrimination has been around since the beginning of time and probably always
will be. Discrimination in any form is wrong. This country was founded on the
belief that all men are created equal. I guess that only applies if you are
white, heterosexual and a male. That is wrong on so many levels. People should
have equal rights and protections under that law regardless of age, race, creed,
national origin, sexual orientation, height, weight, gender. What I find frustrating
is that my generation has to make up for the mistakes of the past. We need to
put the past, the old ways, in the history books and move on. The world s progressing
and we are headed in the right direction, but we still have a long way to go.
The way I see it, is that if I don’t like someone who is black, or Hispanic,
it has nothing to do with the color of their skin. An ass hole is an ass hole
regardless of where they came from. As the bumper sticker states, “I and
not racist, I hate everyone equally”. The only time that I will discriminate
against someone is when someone discriminates against me. I am more than capable
of fighting on your level. What really pisses me off is when something happens
to someone and it instantly becomes a race issue. We had an issue in the great
state of Michigan where a black person was fleeing from the law and people ended
up getting killed, and evidently the officers that were chasing him were white.
Instantly the focus was not on the criminal, but on the white officers. Excuse
me, if someone was trying to escape law enforcement, and gets killed, that sure
as hell isn’t the fault of the police. Then the rioting started. It wasn’t
enough that someone was dead, let’s assault police, firemen, paramedics,
and light the neighborhood on fire. That is very smart. If it were up to me,
I would surround the neighborhood and let them destroy their homes. I sure as
hell would not risk my life to protect people who are trying to hurt me. If
they want to burn down their home as sore sort or perverted protest, let them.
But do not give them any assistance in rebuilding. At least not with my tax
dollars. All people should be protected under the law. Yes that includes GLB
persons. They are people too.
