Abortion is a topic that has been highly debated for many years, and an issue
that will probably be debated until the end of time. Many people argue their
viewpoint based on religious beliefs. I am fine with that. I am not a religious
person, but I do not have a problem with people who fight based on religious
conviction. My opinion on abortion is relatively straight forward and based
on my beliefs, not the beliefs of any type of outside organization. In my opinion,
abortion is wrong because it is the taking of a life. What is life? That depends
on your perspective. To me, anything that naturally grows is alive. That means
grass is alive, even though it has no independent thought process, it grows,
requires water, sunlight, and air to survive. That way of thinking would mean
that an unborn child is a life. The only exception would be in a situation where
the mother is at serious risk, or if the baby has a defect that cannot be cured
and there is no chance for survival. If one person has to die, I feel that it
should be the child not the mother. The loss of the mother would be much more
devastating to the family than the loss of the child. Don’t get me wrong,
the loss of either is a great tragedy. I think that abortion is being used as
a form of birth control because of laziness. I didn’t have a condom but
had sex anyway. I was too drunk to know what I was doing. Who cares, I can just
have an abortion. That is a pathetic and weak attitude used by people who do
not take responsibility for their actions. I can’t have a baby now because
that will mess up my life plans. In my opinion, that is just too damn bad. Give
the baby up for adoption if you are not ready to be a parent. People never want
to take responsibility for their actions. The excuse I didn’t think I
would get pregnant, or I didn’t think that I can get pregnant my first
time is the excuse that I have heard in the past. What a bunch of crap. If someone
really believes that, they should be locked away as such stupidity makes them
a danger to society. Birth control is a responsibility for both men and women.
Women say it’s my body. Correct, but when a woman chooses to mate with
someone, that person is involved. It does affect men. Maybe not physically,
but it affects men mentally. This is not just a woman’s issue. We have,
in this country, a huge set of double standards. Abortion is legal when someone
who does not have the ability to speak on their behalf yet an adult to can speak
on their behalf, cannot end their life at the time when they choose. Explain
to me why this is considered acceptable. That makes absolutely no sense. Only
in this country could something so ridiculous happen. In case you haven’t
figured it out, I am talking about physician assisted suicide. As an adult with
a horrible disease, I cannot legally end my life, but it is OK to terminate
the life of someone without a voice. In any case, abortion is, in my opinion,
murder. This would apply to probably 99 percent of the cases. If we don’t
want teen pregnancy, we should talk to our children about sex and its repercussions.
We should not be afraid to discuss sex with children. Hell, they probably know
more than we do. Just watch a couple of hours of television and you will learn
more that most probably ever care to know. Children today probably know more
about sex at 12 than our parents did at 40. It’s sad but true. In conclusion,
people should take responsibility for their actions. Not just women, but men
as well. Lets’ face it ladies, without the man, there would not be an
issue. Many people will not agree with what I have said here, but that’s
too bad. If people would think rationally and not avoid responsibility for their
actions, the world would be a better place.
